Join Vernon Ah Kee, Fiona Stager, Carmel Haugh and Bec Mac as they sit down to discuss Making Meaningful Art in Public Spaces with Chrysalis Projects.
Funded by the community, the flagship project is a super-scaled outdoor canvas creating a landmark in downtown West End, Brisbane. The outdoor gallery is planned to see numerous artists’ work curated over time. The inaugural artist is Vernon Ah Kee, with his own unique relationship to the locality, the artwork pays homage to the iconic Avid Reader bookstore owners’ commitment to First Nations and locally based writers. Chrysalis Projects puts art in corner shops, carparks, rooftops and the digital environment seeing these public spaces as the cultural venues of tomorrow.
Chrysalis ignites new philanthropic collaborations between artists/practitioners, traders, property owners and the community to co-create public art with virtuosity and purpose.
