Clayschool Alumni: 10 years in the making.
Clayschool Alumni is a curation of ceramics held at Vacant Assembly showcasing the works of Ray Cavill, Clayschool teachers, and select past and present students. It documents a journey of those involved in this community, what they learn and make and where it has taken them in the contemporary creative arts scene.
From beginners to professional studio potters, ceramic artists, teachers in institutions, public art commissions, jewellers, practices that span international, national and local arenas. The showcase features potters that are winners of major art awards, and whose work is in curated shows as well as public and private collections. Over 40 potters will be exhibiting, including Ray Cavill, Ky Curran, Laura Pascoe and Jennifer Hillhouse.
Clayschool is a Brisbane Clay institution being one of the first private clay schools opening the doors on February 29 2012. Ray Cavill is the Clay Cult leader with over 35 years experience. He is a master potter specialising in woodfiring, throwing and all aspect of the clay journey. Clayschool is a place where potters find and nurture their love for the practice, and professionals and beginners come together to create in a supportive, dynamic, inclusive environment.
