In her new exhibition, Hailey Atkins presents new sculptural works and large-scale drawings that revise the meaning of ‘pep’ to incorporate the reality of failure and anxiety. Using playful form and colour, the Brisbane artist draws on the personal to articulate the ‘in-between’ experiences and the uncomfortable, yet potentially productive and funny, spaces between doubt, failure and defiant enthusiasm.
