As trans and gender diverse people, we develop a sharp sensitivity to the architectural spaces that uphold violent cis-centric power structures.
But, what if we could disrupt these power structures with more than our bodies? What new ways of co-existing might we be able to imagine through the creation of ephemeral performance environments? If a scenographic world was able to hold the nuances and complexities of gender diversity beyond the text or the body (or even the costume) what impacts might that have on the relationship between audience, performance and design? And what impacts might all of this have on the broader landscape of theatre and performance?
