In April 2017, mother daughter ceramic artists Mieke & Charlie De Deyne opened Mas & Miek Ceramic House in Newstead. The goal was to share the wonderful craft of ceramics that they have spent the last 10 years of their lives immersed in.
Alongside a large fully equipt pottery studio designed specifically for teaching is a thriving cafe and a gallery store exhibiting local ceramic artists. The studio predominately teaches hand building, throwing on the pottery wheel and glazing, whilst also delving into specialist techniques in masterclasses. This studio is open to public every day, all are welcome to come in, grab a coffee and soak up the creative atmosphere.
In early 2021, Mieke and Charlie opened their second studio site in Morningside, Brisbane. The studio is predominately designed to manufacture larger Mas & Miek Ceramics orders, however, few courses are offered here in the field, including the ‘Thinking about Tableware’ course. This studio is not open to public, as hours in the studio vary in accordance to manufacturing and orders.
